Pluraleyes Error asking if I have write access?

Postby wbrock001 on Thu Sep 24, 2009 11:19 pm

I'm running OS X 10.6.1 with FCP 7 and when I run pluraleyes it gives me an error asking if I have write access to the folder with the media files. Yes I do, what could be causing this problem? I've rebuilt permissions, deleted caches, done everything I could think of and it just keeps giving me this error. Thanks!

PS - Used Toast TItanium 10 to convert the source clips as the log and transfer kept giving an error. I know that software has been weird about permissions in the past so currently trying to save into a new file and see if that fixes the issue. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated!

For the benefit of others who have encountered this error message, we worked with the original poster offline to resolve the issue. The problem was that the files created by Toast were corrupted in some fashion. When he encoded the files using Compressor the problem went away.

I'm having the same problem! Maybe it's because i'm using neoscene to convert my video files?

It's hard to say without looking at the files. I'll follow up with you offline to see if we can figure out what's going on.

Same problem! I use Canon 7d and Image Capture, well, to capture the clips, then import the .MOV files into FCP.

This is not a multiclip, just regular videos with the continuous .aiff track recorded in Logic 9. Thanks!

I guess, there is something wrong with my footage or audio. I tried your project sample and it worked perfectly. I am using Canon 7d, then convert files with ProRes 422(LT) for editing in FCP. Audio from Logic 9, several clips bounced to one file. I am running Mac OS 10.6.1 and FCP 7. I am trying to sinc that audio to my video.

We have found a bug in PluralEyes related to this issue. We are still investigating it and can't guarantee that this particular bug explains all occurrences of the error message. But we will at least fix this bug in a future update. In the meantime there is a workaround that you could try.

In one case that we investigated, the problem was that an AIFF file in the project had a text track that was put in by Logic. PluralEyes was not able to open the file properly in this case.

The error message talks about "write access" because in the past that has been the most common cause of an error at this point in the program. But if you have write access you could try the following workaround:
1. Using QuickTime (Window > Show Movie Properties) or the free QT Sync application, check if any of your media files has a text track.
2. If so, remove the text track and save as a reference movie. In QT Sync, you go to Edit > Remove Track and then File > Save as Reference Movie.
3. Replace the original clip in your pluraleyes sequence with this reference movie and run PluralEyes again.

It would be helpful to hear from anyone who finds this workaround lets you get past that error message.

I have a trial version of Pluraleyes and I have footage shot on canon 5Dm2 and I'm trying to sync up audio recorded on a Panasonic hpx 300 p2 camera. The raw h264 30p produced by the Canon 5dm2 has been converted to apple pro res LT 30p and the audio was recorded at AVC intra 100 1080p 24 p audio rate 48.0khz 16 bit integer. Is there something I can do to correct the problem.

The pluraleyes timeline or sequence I created in FCP is an Apple pro res 422 lt 48.0 khz 32 bit timeline or sequence.

Also for future reference, what should I record and convert the clips to? I also have a zoom h4 external audio recorder I can use. I really only need this software for the purposes of syncing thr 5DM2 to an audio file, my HPX 300 has no issues with the audio capabilities.

In other words what is the best scenario for pluraleyes to work flawlessly.

Thanks,

Carlos Castro.

PluralEyes works fine across a wide range of media types. As noted in the message just before yours, there have been reports of problems with a particular piece of metadata that Logic puts in. Video from a 5D Mark II and audio from a Zoom H4n is a very popular combination and will work well.

To tackle the particular problem you have run into, please send us the project and log files as described on our support page and we'll investigate.
